History of Pahalgam
The origin of Pahalgam is obscure. Mughal rulers ruled this region in the medieval period. It was later a part of the Kingdom of Kashmir, which was ruled by local Hindu rulers. This princely state remained independent even during the British period and later on merged into independent India.

Rail : The Jammu Tawi Railway Station, located 280 km away from Pahalgam is the closest railhead. Hiring a private cab or sharing taxi from here is an economical option.
Road : Tourists can easily opt for buses and taxis from Srinagar and Jammu to comfortably reach Pahalgam. In addition to it, you also get to enjoy a breathtakingly beautiful road trip.
